Clinical practice guidelines
Aim: To assist the Australian Cancer Network to produce up to date evidence-based clinical practice guidelines for the management of melanoma in line with NHMRC standards
Methods
- Production of handbook to guide clinicians through the NHMRC process
- Education for the clinicians in NHMRC methods
- Specification of the clinical guideline questions
- Systematic searches and retrieval of literature for 90+ questions
- Provision of advice on critical appraisal and format for the guidelines
- Review of guideline content and assistance with the public consultation process
Part of this project was conducted while two Network staff members were employed through Sydney Health Projects Group at the University of Sydney. The remainder of the project was funded and conducted through the Network in assocation with the Australian Cancer Network.
Status: Clinical practice guidelines for the management of melanoma in Australia and New Zealand were completed and endorsed by NHMRC and the New Zealand Guidelines Group in November 2008.
