Implementation of the clinical practice guidelines for the management of melanoma
Aim:
To encourage uptake of the recommendations from the new Clinical practice guidelines for the Management of Melanoma in Australia and New Zealand in NSW and the ACT.
Methods:
- Development of an evidence-based implementation plan
- Development of tools to assist implementation e.g. clinical protocols, decision aids, referral pathways, incentives
- Development of systems to evaluate the success of the implementation effort
Status:
A detailed implementation plan is currently being developed by the Network. Detailed protocols for specialist melanoma clinicians are currently being developed by the Sydney Melanoma Unit. The Network is involved in initial discussions regarding development of primary care protocols including referral pathways with general practitioners.
